Thomas E. Reynolds Endowment Scholarship (and EEF High School Graduate Scholarship) Application

Download application as PDF or use the fill-in form below.

Note: By completing this form you are automatically applying for both the Thomas E. Reynolds Endowment Scholarship and the EEF High School Graduate Scholarship. You may be awarded one or the other, but not both.

The Thomas E. Reynolds Endowment Scholarship (TER) provides a $12,000 scholarship to a graduate from the Geneva Lake area high schools who is committed to a four-year program of study at an accredited university or college. This scholarship awards $3,000 annually, for four years ($12,000/4 years= $3,000 per year), to students who maintain the required 3.0 grade point average while actively working toward an appropriate degree.

The EEF High School Graduate Scholarship (EEF) provides a one-time $3,000 scholarship to an applicant meeting the same criteria. EEF Undergraduate Scholarships are available to students for their sophomore, junior and senior years of study, but require separate application and review.

Requirements and procedures are as follows:

  • Complete your high school’s General Scholarship Application and the following TER/EEF application along with required supplemental documents and send them to the EEF office by March 1.
  • The applicant must be in good academic standing with a sincere interest in conservation, ecology, biology or other environmentally-oriented field.
  • Applicants must have applied to an institution of higher education pursuing a bachelor's degree in conservation, ecology, biology or other environmentally-oriented field. The Scholarship will be awarded only upon acceptance to such an institution.
  • Financial need will be considered if the student meets the first three criteria.
  • The high school scholarship committee is to receive and then forward all applications to the Environmental Education Foundation Thomas E. Reynolds Scholarship Committee, which will review the applications and choose the applicants to be interviewed.
  • Members of the TER Scholarship Committee will interview selected candidates at an arranged date and time in the spring. Only one (1) TER Endowment Scholarship will be awarded. Applicants not awarded the TER scholarship will be automatically considered for the EEF scholarship, to be determined by the EEF Scholarship and Grants Committee, with no separate application required.
  • Presentation of the award shall be made by a representative of the Environmental Education Foundation at the high school's spring awards ceremony.
  • The scholarship will be paid directly to the student’s college/university at the beginning of the first term.
  • Annual renewal of the TER scholarship requires that the TER scholarship winner will stay in touch with the EEF, updating it with term grade point averages as well as any changes in his or her professional goals.
